A room under renovation with tools, paint cans, wiring, and repair supplies.

Good estimate photos show the whole room, the problem areas, access, and the details that change price.

Start wide, then move closer

Wide photos show the room or exterior area as a whole. Close photos show trim, fixtures, surfaces, moisture concerns, repair areas, and existing conditions that matter before price is discussed.

  • Take one photo from each corner when possible.
  • Add close-ups of damage, access, fixtures, and surfaces.
  • Include exterior access if materials or parking may be limited.

Include context with the photos

Photos work best when they come with a short note about what should change, what should stay, preferred timing, and whether the request is a repair, finish update, or larger layout change.

  • Room or area name
  • Project address or nearby location
  • Timing, access, budget range, and terms that matter
